Last year I wrote about how absurd it was that Minecraft Bedrock had no native Apple Silicon build. I’m writing basically the same post again, because nothing has changed. If anything, it’s gotten a little worse. Where things actually stand in 2026 A quick refresher on the shape of the problem, since it hasn’t moved:…
For the last several months, I have been testing both Siri and the Google Assistant as voice controllers for my home automation products. While neither product is really very good at this point in time, I have less overall problems with Siri than I do with the Google Assistant. In this post I will outline…
Here’s a scenario that plays out millions of times a day: your phone rings, the caller ID says your bank’s name, and a person on the other end says they’re calling from the fraud department about “suspicious activity” on your account. Then, before they’ll discuss anything, they ask you to confirm your identity — full…
I recently got a Microsoft Surfacebook at work. I have been busy installing all the programs that I use for data collection and analysis as well as development and content creation. I am very happy overall and this machine is set to replace my not-so-old MacBook Pro because Apple seems to be unable to provide…
The other day I was notified of an update to Android Auto on my phone. I had seen some online news that a new version would be released that would allow the app to be used without a compatible in dash head unit. My first thought was “why did this take so long?”, but I…
It’s 2025, and Apple’s M-series chips have proven themselves as some of the most powerful consumer CPUs on the market. MacBooks and iMacs with Apple Silicon rival high-end PCs in raw performance while sipping power like mobile devices. Yet for some reason, there’s one glaring omission for gamers: Minecraft Bedrock Edition is still not available…
I got a Nike+ Apple Watch 3 with LTE for my birthday last year. As a very longtime Fitbit user, I was skeptical of losing access to the social component of Fitbit. I have always said that the back end of Fitbit is their greatest resource, and still believe this. I liked my various Fitbits…
If there’s one thing that frustrates me about owning an Apple Watch, it’s the lack of freedom to create and use truly custom watch faces. Apple has built one of the most advanced smartwatches in the world, but at the same time, it has locked down one of the most personal aspects of the device:…
The big Nor’easter hit Connecticut the other day and we lost our power for a few hours. We also lost out cable too: phone, internet and TV. This was and is annoying, but I can understand how much work is involved to fix these things. One new think I learned is that you lose your…
Concept mockup: what a multi-user account chooser on iPadOS could look like. This screen doesn’t exist yet — but maybe it should. If you’ve ever handed your iPad to your kid, then picked it back up an hour later to find your email drafts abandoned, your Safari tabs replaced with Roblox wikis, and your Netflix…
